I Know Here

I Know Here Lara Zilio I know Queensland, Australia the best because that's my second background. The flight is 30 hours!!! I get so tired. All of my mom’s family lives there. We spend 2 weeks at each house. There are three houses. We typically go for six weeks. I stay at my grandparent’s house, my cousin’s house and my aunt’s house. They all live in different cities - Brisbane, Varsity Lakes and Beaudesert. I love the taste of the chewy Strawberries and Creams, the powdery marshmallows that are raspberry [pink] and original [white].We can’t get them in Canada, which is sad. The powdery goodness gets all over your face no matter how much you try. The ooey gooey marshmallow center is so sticky. I hear the annoying crows at 5:00 in the morning !! It’s NUTS!! They always wake me up like an annoying alarm clock. I like going for a walk in the rainforest. I often feel like I am going to trip over a tree root and be bitten by a snake out in the forest. Raindrops start to slowly drip off the trees and fall onto our heads. WATCH OUT!! There’s a red back spider there so tiny you can barely see them . They might be small but they are DEADLY!!! Hey! There’s a snake slithering on the path. Is it DEADLY? Yes, just leave it alone. I love the feel of the calm water at the beach swishing back and forth and back and forth. Each little tiny grain of sand stuck in between my toes. It feels so soft but sometimes rough. The ruffled seashells remind me of my dad’s favourite chips when he does not come. I saw a blue bottle jellyfish that is deadly. I also saw a dolphin underneath a surfer. The surfer and I were scared because it looked like a great white shark. I learned how to body surf . I always catch the big waves. I feel happy because I know how to body surf. I feel so hot under the beating sun. I’m like a burning fire melting one by one. I love all the different smells of my second home like the burning smell of the wood camp fire. Each flare and spark of the fire can bring a warm light to anyone. The little sparks fly around in the night when you add new wood. It smells like heaven to breathe in the smoke and smell the roasting marshmallows we make for smores. Chocolate, gram crackers and marshmallows. A SMORE! At my second home, I love to cook on the barbecue! The smell of the steakette cooking to perfection makes my mouth water! I see the rainbow parakeets flying over my head like a soaring airplane through the day time sky. The koala bear is soft as a teddy bear. You could squish it all day! Eating high up in the trees, the koala’s eat the green Eucalyptus leaves off the bubblegum trees. They climb up and down and up and down the trees. Also, I have seen a jumping kangaroo with a joey in its patch. They jump so high they touch the sky. Be careful for boxing kangaroos they will knock you down so hard you can’t get back up. I see them while playing golf along the side of the golf course. It was like being an actor in a movie. I admire the poisonous snake slithering alone going ssssssssssssssssssssssssss in the forest. That's why I know Queensland, Australia the best!!!!
