My Two Homes
To me, I have two homes
A house that I grew up in
A home where I am cared for
That is my first home
But my second home is different
It's a place where I can express how much I love teamwork with animals
How much I love the smell of horses and ponies.
The sound of hooves beating in the dirt.
When I look at these homes, I see myself
What I love
Care about
My second home is completely different
It's a different place
A different environment
My second home isn’t a place with people I grew up with
It's a place where my coach, my friends and my pony I lease are
I feel like I blend
I feel like I’m respected
Because there are people like me
People who also love horseback riding
To me, home doesn't just mean a place that keeps me safe
It’s a place where I can be myself
But both homes have something others don’t
Care
When I come back from horseback riding, school or tennis
My dog licks me
Hugs me
To me, that shows how big of a part of her life I am.
When I go to my barn
My coaches and friends say “Hi” to me
To me, that shows that I’m valued and not just a stranger
Both homes have their similarities and differences
But these homes have something in common
