Home
Home is a place where I feel safe not just from wind, rain, storms, thunder and tornadoes. But also mean, hateful and bad things. In my home you have time for the people you love. Home is a happy place with peace. In my home, I feel safe and loved. Home is where the good memories hold on to you.
Home feels like a big warm friendly hug and a minty cup of tea. Home feels like a big nice cuddle. Home feels like a smart security guard. In my home it feels like a soft heated blanket.
Home sounds like me jumping rope in the backyard while my dad cooks his delicious sizzling ribs into crispy little pieces on his traeger. It sounds like my dad snoring like an elephant night after night and my Mom unpacking the tasty snacks for my sister and I. My home sounds like my sister’s Taylor Swift and Tate McRae songs are blasting in her bedroom.
My home smells like my sister’s and my sweet perfume every day. It also smells of my Mom's delicious seasoned taco meat and homemade pretzel bites as the aroma fills the air. And, it also smells like strong hairspray before we go to dance.
A home is not just four walls, a picture frame and furniture. Home is more than the house you live in. Home is not just a warm sauna or a really steamy steam room. Or a hot hot tub. Home is not just a grocery store with good snacks.
Home means happiness to me. It is a memory for me. Home means friends and family and where we watch movies and have popcorn.
Habitat for Humanity helps in so many ways but one of the ways is it gives a place for people to feel safe and loved.
