What Home Means to Me

“A house is built of walls and beams. A home is built of love and dreams.” This saying has been in my house since I was born, and I still look at it and wonder; what does home mean to ME? “The sound of laughter echoes off the walls. The family has gathered. I talk and help make that laughter. This is what home means to me.” “I sit at the table, playing a treasured board game with my Brother, Mom and Dad. This is what home means to me.” “I am lying on my couch, talking to my Mom and Dad about things that worry me. They comfort me greatly. This is what home means to me.” “I have friends over, and we talk and play games happily. Everyone is having fun. This is what home means to me.” I am sitting down, writing these very words with the comforting knowledge that just by doing this, I can help ensure that people all over the world can feel what home means to them. Thank you, Habitat for Humanity, for helping all the people who cannot feel that wonderful feeling of home.
