Home Is Where I Belong

Hong Kong is a place where I lived, Winnipeg is where I will stay. Sure, I miss the fresh crisp air on the way to school and the tall, bold skyscrapers leaning over me. I remember my first-time seeing snow in Winnipeg and the coldness as it fell it slowly fell on my nose, that burst of happiness it brought me will forever stay in my heart. I still miss my friends, family, school, home… I think of it every single day. My home is very far away, I wish for one day I can visit it again. Everything has changed from my friends to my education. I used to go to my grandma house every Saturday and have fun with my cousins, now I spend my Saturdays studying by myself. There were big changes that I needed to accept, not knowing the culture was a huge turn for me, I couldn’t fit in very well and that made me think of where I belonged. I went and visited my old classroom, and one of my friends asked, “Where did your accent go?” I was confused so I said, “what accent?” and she replied, “I remembered when I first talked to you, you had an Chinese accent, now it’s gone."
