What Home Means to Me

When I think of home I think of more than one place. My mom's house, my dad's house and my grandparents’ cottage in Pugwash are all places I consider home. Family is something that's very important to me so wherever they are, I feel at home. When I think about home, I think about the memories, the food and acting silly and funny. When I think of home I think of my mom’s special Shepard's pie. Food and special meals seem to bring my family together. There are always wonderful smells coming from the kitchen. I always feel a smile growing on my face as I think of family gathered around the table for a good meal. When I think of home I think of acting funny and silly. From the dances with hats on backwards singing into a broom, acting like rock stars, to dancing to the cookie monster song (C is for Cookie) always seems to make me feel at home. I feel at home acting silly because my family won't judge me for acting silly. So when I'm with my silly family, I feel at home. When I think of home I think of my grandparents’ cottage in Pugwash on the ocean. I think of Pugwash because I've had a lot of memories there. I love the sound of waves splashing while going on a sunset walk with my family. Even though sometimes it's overwhelming with family everywhere I will remember it's the spot where memories are made. So even though home for me is 3 places, it doesn’t make it any less of a home. Home where you have memories, good food and have a bit of silly in your life.
