What Home Means to Me

When I think of home, I think of a place filled with family, friends, and play. I also think of my own space, peace and quiet, acceptance, and empathy. When I am home, I see smiles, love and laughter. Home is a place where you connect, talk, run around, and where you feel you belong. Home is where you go to silence a storm in your head and feel the love of your family and friends. Home can mean school, a house, a friend’s house, or anywhere else you feel cared for and accepted. Your family can be chosen, by blood, or just people you trust. When I see someone on the street alone and afraid, I always want to help, that is why I am writing this piece. I just want people to have a roof over there head. Just think if you were stuck outside in the extreme cold or extreme hot, if you were stuck living under a bridge alone, sad, no family, and no place to call home. What if your only friend was the man in the moon? But even sometimes he would disappear to. We need to come to them with the sweetest smile and offer them something to help them even if just for a while. We all deserve a home, because we are all human.
