What Home Means to Me

Home is where I’m loved. It's a place where I'm safe. When I wake up I feel the cool air come through my window and I think about how there is no place I’d rather be. I head downstairs and I feel surrounded with love as I see my family waiting for me at the table. A home is more than 4 walls and a roof. It's where you feel loved, safe, and like there is no other place you would rather be. I get ready and head off for school. I see my friends, birds flying by, and the busses with kids waving at me through the window. I feel at home. I feel safe. I feel that this community is my home. I see other kids walk to school and say hi. This is my home. The lights in my house are bright just like how we smile when my family and I are together. The wires run through my home like how the love does. I'm so very fortunate that I have a home. It makes me sad to see people sitting on the streets because they don't have homes. I hope someday everyone will have a home where they are safe, loved, and feel like that’s where they belong. That’s what a home is to me.
