The Meaning of Home

Home is memories and moments. It is family and love. My home is my shelter and where I can wake up to clean water, food and heat. Home is a place where I can feel happy every day of the week and every month of the year. Everyday when I wake up, I am surrounded by my loving family. Pictures from when we were younger fill the wall. The scent of coffee drifts through the air. We talk , laugh and love. No matter where I go I will always go back to my home. Without my family my home would be a house, waiting for another family to live in it. Any house can be home with the love and joy and the people in it. Every morning I never worry about there not being food on the table or not having clean water. For some people that is all they worry about, and it shouldn’t have to be. I am very lucky to have my home. My brother, my parents and I, each with our own rooms, filled with things we love. I am very grateful for the delicious meals we have each night and the mouth watering breakfast I wake up to each morning. My home is the best place I can be. A home is not about how big or small your house is, but the people and memories that make it a home. Habitat for humanity is helping to change the lives of others by building homes for the less fortunate, which will make a huge difference in that person’s life because I know how much getting a home will mean to them.
