Home in my heart

When most people hear the word “home” they think of a house, with rooms, food, light, and furniture. To me, that is not the meaning of home. I am very fortunate to have a safe place to live, and a roof over my head. Although, the biggest part of home to me is FAMILY. From the moment I wake up in the morning, to the second I fall asleep at night─family and friends are one of the only concepts I think about. I love my family, and my family loves me. Sometimes my family drives me nuts, but most of the time I could not ask for better comfort, protection, warmth, company, and most of all: understanding. My family will always hear what I have to say. Every day when I get home from school, I am always greeted with affection. My friends are constantly there for me, and they support me no matter what. They are like family to me, and they should not be taken for granted. The way that I express myself is through art. Whether it is painting or sketching, it is one of the only ways everyone can see how I really feel. “What does art have to do with the meaning of home?” Well, to me art holds a special place in my heart. I do comprehend that there are people that have no house, limited food, and very little money. It is a depressing thought, and so many people prefer not to think about it. However, we must remember that it is real. Home is not a place or an object, but the adventure through life; it is that spot in your heart that makes you feel cheerful, secure, cozy, and loved. That is what home means to me.
