Home

What is the meaning of home? Is it a place? Or a feeling? And what does home mean to me? To me, home is a feeling. A sense that you belong and are accepted. Where you could be goofy, or dead serious. Laughter, fighting, and crying can be heard. Open wounds can be mended and healed. You can say what’s on your mind and be heard. Inhale and savour the familiar scent. Be recognized for your accomplishments, not mistakes. Anyone can buy a house, it’s what fills it that matters. Friends, family, memories and more. Where anyone is accepted and no one is quick to judge. You can make a huge mistake and still be forgiven. Home is where you can take off the suit of armor that you put up. Home can be a place, person, anything! That’s because anything can give you comfort. Anything could give you a break from everyday stresses, work, and expectations Sometimes taking a breath and talking with your parents, or playing video games for an hour is all you need to feel comforted. No, it’s not perfect. There’s frustration, sibling fights, and tears. But no matter what happens, it will always be home. Home to me is comfort. A piece of mind. Curling up to read, chatting with a friend, laughing at a show, or even just hugging your parents. Home to me is comfort, not a building. I know I’ll always belong…. At home.
