What Home Means to Me

Home to me is a place where I can always be myself. It is where my mother, my father, my brother and I can share our most embarrassing or funny stories and never feel anything but relief, joy and happiness. It is a museum of love, trust, hope and dreams. If I ever feel sad or scared I know that home means that I can confess and feel the warmth of my mother telling me that all would be okay. If I ever feel down, my brother will always be there to make me laugh and smile. Home is like a cure to sadness and it is like a head start to a wonderful day. At Christmas time, the lights on our tree mean home, they mean that it is safe to open up and bring out the inner you. When I go outside in the winter, my brother and I will toboggan for hours until we can’t see the hill and in the summer we will ATV with our friends and pretend that we are on a big adventure to save someone from bad guys. When it is raining I will either dance out in the rain or play board games. Some people don’t like the rain but when I am home I am never sad about rain for it only means more wet hair, more fun and laughing and more family time. When I hear my mother making dinner and my father laughing, I always think, love. I live by a meadow, a wood full of wonder, a pond, a maze where I go to untangle my mind, a very kind neighbour and last but never ever least, I live by my family, my heart, my smile. I live at home. This is what home means to me.
