Back Where We Belong

Ten months since the fire felt sooooo long, It was hard, I couldn’t find my song. The day has come, we get to move back in our house, But it is quiet like a mouse. My room is empty, no bunk bed or toys, No books, no stuff, no happy noise. Even when we weren’t here, I still felt at home with my family near. Living in borrowed rooms and suitcase space, We still had love in every place. I know our house is just walls and doors, But it holds our love, and so much more. I starfished down on my clean bedroom floor, And thought to myself “my room is reborn!” I can decorate and have sleepovers again! I haven’t done that since Gosh knows when. I tried to remember where things were before, And drew a picture for my new closet door. We made it through, we weathered the storm. Our newish house will soon feel warm. We’re back at home, now we’ll remain, I’m jumping with joy I can hardly contain! Together our family was brave and strong, We’re finally back where we belong.
