Habitat Homes

I think Habitat for Humanity homes are important for our community because they support families that don't have homes and give them a safe and stable place to live. They are amazing because they help people all over the world. In Canada they are currently helping people in Ontario and Alberta. They've helped 91 families in Grey Bruce with affordable home ownership. They have built over 70 homes in Grey Bruce since 1987. Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit company that uses volunteer labour and donations of supplies to build lots of homes all over the world. I think it's really cool because there is no cost for labour and this makes homes more affordable for low-income families. Since these homes are more affordable, low-income families are able to gain strength and independence and provide a better life for their families. Some of the areas where they have built homes around where I live are Port Elgin, Owen Sound, and Hanover. There are local companies that have sponsored Habitat for Humanity, and some of them are Bruce Power, Meridian, and E.S. Fox. Habitat for Humanity doesn't just build homes; they also repair existing homes and operate a store called ReStore where they sell reusable building products. Habitat for Humanity also tries their best to make the homes more affordable for heat and hydro by making them energy efficient. They also try to make the houses as eco-friendly as they can. This all helps low-income families because they won't have to spend as much money on their house bills and can spend more time with their families. They make it simple for people that want to donate or volunteer by going into their website and selecting the donate or volunteer button. These are the reasons why I think Habitat for Humanity is an amazing organization.
