Home is Different to Everyone
Home: a word that's different to everyone. To some just a building, to others it’s where you’re loved & safe.
To me home is the smell of fresh delicious food of all different types. It's a time where you can connect with your family, share your favourite parts of the day and enjoy the delicious food in front of you. You can make out a mixture of all of your favourite foods from different places with their own unique taste, filling the dining room with joy. You don't hear anything because the food is so good.
It's where you can see all of your favourite people sitting next to you, smiling and laughing because your little brother said something weird.
It's like staring out a window when it’s raining, where you feel safe and warm. When you’re around family it feels like a giant warm hug from those you care about and the people who care about you. It’s when you’re outside feeling the warm sun shine down on your face on a warm day.
Home is where you can hear the neighbors screaming and playing. It's where you hear your siblings together. Home is a safe space for everyone to do what they want. To be them, and that is why home is so different to everybody. Home can be anything; it can be a softball field or a fire burning brightly. It can be just a spot you and your friends go to hang out, but no matter what, everyone deserves a home. There is other stuff going on around us that not all of us see, others might not have it as good as you, so thank you Dartmouth Habitat for Humanity for seeing others and giving them a safe space to fill with memories, love and happiness.
