Home Is Where My Mom Is

Home is not just a building. It is a place where I feel safe, calm, and loved. I thought my life would always stay the same. I liked my city, my school, and everything around me. I didn’t think anything would ever change. But one morning my mom told me we were moving to another country. I didn’t understand how big this change would be. When we arrived, everything felt strange. People spoke a language I didn’t know. The food tasted new, and school was not the same. Even the streets looked strange to me. I missed my grandparents, my cousins, my friends, and my aunts and uncles. I missed walking on the streets I knew so well. I also missed speaking my own language and eating my favorite food. Sometimes I felt lonely and a little scared. One day, I realized something important. My mom was still with me. She was always there when I needed her. Every morning, she woke me up, smiled at me, and said “good morning!”. She hugged me and made food that made me feel better. After school, she asked about my day and listened carefully. She believed in me even when I didn’t believe in myself. Because of her, I slowly started to feel stronger and confident. As time passed, I met new people and learned new things. Little by little, this new place started to feel more normal. I learned that home is not only one place. Home is love, support, and family. And for me, home will always be where my mom is!
