Home

Home is not just a place made out of four walls and a roof. It’s the people inside that make it a home. It’s my mom, dad and brother that makes me feel loved, safe and secure. It’s my safe space for me to express myself and not worry about what other people think. The kitchen, where I eat dinner and listen to stories and tell mine! It’s where I help my mom bake the most delicious food to share with my family and friends. It’s also where we play all sorts of games, creating memories as we have fun. My bedroom is my oasis. It reflects the different sides of my personality. It’s where I go to escape from the worries of the day. It’s a great place to wind down, read and escape into the world of my books. I see my stuffies that remind me it’s okay to be a child, to be goofy and to be curious. In the corner is my make-up that shows I’m growing up, that I’m strong, I believe in myself and people can take me seriously. It’s the doorframe in the closet that I have my height marked over the years that shows me how far I’ve come and lets me dream of what I’ll accomplish in the future. Or downstairs where I drew on the walls when I was a kid. Learning it is perfectly ok to be imperfect and make mistakes. There is no better place I’d rather be. To me, home feels like a warm blanket coming out of the dryer giving me a big bear hug. It’s my welcoming place where I feel that I belong. My hope is that everyone has a home where they belong that is built with love like I do.
