Our Home Isn't Just a House
Our Home Isn’t Just a House
Our house isn’t just a house, it's our sanctuary. A place where happy memories are created, sad memories, meaningful memories. We learn to walk, to speak, and to love with our loved ones by our side encouraging us along the way.
There was probably a time where you felt something wasn't going well in your life but your home is the place where you can let that all out like when you receive some bad news or haven’t had the best day at school. You can count on your home to comfort you and make you feel safe and supported. Growing up is a rollercoaster of emotions, when you are at home, none of it matters.
Your home is more than just a house, it's a segment of your life, where you learn about yourself, and see who you really are. You can be who you are. Not a shell of yourself you may act like when you are outside of your home.
The great thing about having a home is that it doesn't always mean it's the stereotypical “nice house in a normal neighbourhood with a nice family”. It can mean that you live in a cottage, condo, townhouse, mansion, or even a trailer! All it has to be is a place where you grow, you thrive, and live in an environment that is a comforting shelter when needed. Home is where memories are cherished and loved ones connect.
Thank you to Habitat for Humanity for this opportunity to help people in need and to allow students like myself to share what home means to me.
