Home and House Are Not the Same

Home and house are not the same. Home is where everybody is welcome and comfortable. A house is a building or a place you live in. Home is where I’m safe and free. In my home you always feel special and meant to be here. Home is not where we only live. Home is what God gave us as a gift. Home is part of me, that never leaves my heart. Home is a hug that wraps me around like a shield. Home is built with love and care and keeps me from fear. It also keeps me warm from the storm and the snow. Home always matters to me because I am meant to be here. My home sounds like laughter at the dinner table. It smells like my Sudanese cultural food. We have pictures on the wall that can tell you stories about our memories and adventures. Home may be a small word, but it’s a big thing that comes from the heart.
