Meaning of Home
What is the difference between a house and a home?
A house is like a home without any colors. You don’t recognize it that well. Just a house you can’t design. But a home is a house with happiness inside. Not only is it a place to live but a place where you feel safe. The food you eat feels like it’s offered by your home and sleeping on your bed and the blanket covering you feels like your home is hugging you.
Use your 5 senses to describe your home.
It feels very comfy and very satisfying while you’re in bed in the bedroom and it tastes good when you eat your favorite food made from your mother during lunch or supper. It also smells good in your backyard with the fresh air, hearing the laughter and the conversations at supper, seeing the family pictures on the wall and seeing the people have joy around you.
Name the room that feels safe to you, and why?
My bedroom feels safest to me because I can sleep and get a good night’s sleep and rest and read my book, so I don’t get bored. It really feels like the safest room even though you might think there might be monsters in your closet and thought of when you were a kid. I loved to hide in my closet with my friends and stay there until my mother came.
What makes your house a home?
My family. We always have fun even when times are hard. We eat together, have fun together, and watch a movie together. You have some comfort like the couch with that cozy blanket and your house has everything you love. It also has some stuff you remember right away because it’s part of your house. Your family lives there, too.
What traditions do you do at home?
Whenever I follow these traditions, it reminds me of my homeland. On New Year’s Eve, I would see Filipino food and pizza on the table, and we always do some super good games, too. The food reminds me of my homeland since it’s the Philippines and family come to some of our traditions too. We always have fun no matter what.
