The Meaning of Home
A home is different from a house. A home holds memories, but a house will keep you protected from bad weather. A home makes you feel safe and loved. Outside, I feel the wind on my shoulders and the sun on my face. It smells like fresh air and sap dripping from my spruce tree. It tastes like fresh fruit and veggies straight from the garden. I hear the birds tweeting and snow swishing in the wind. I see trees dancing and planes flying by. The safest place in my house is my room because it has all my toys, and it also makes me feel safe. My bed comforts me when I’m sad. My mom, my dad, my brother, and my dog Sophie make my house a home. My mom because she’s kind and understanding. My dad because he makes me food and plays with me. My dog because she comes and lays down with me. My brother because he helps me when I need help. My home feels like a home because of the nature around it. Also, because of the fun stuff to do, like swinging on my bar, and playing with my friends and picking raspberries in the summer. My home makes me feel calm. My home is where I eat and sleep; where I spend my holidays and pack for big trips.
Thank you, and what does a home mean to you?
