Home is Where I Feel Safe
Home is not just four walls and a roof.
Home is a place where I feel safe. I feel protected by my family. I feel like I belong. I feel cared for.
Home is hearing my family laughing. I hear my brother running around the house. I hear my family talking about work. I hear my dad thumping down the stairs. I hear my mom happily singing some of her favorite songs.
The smell of my mom’s freshly baked chocolate chip cookies fills the air with its chocolatey smell. I smell the fresh air outside in my back yard. I smell freshly washed clothes that just came out of the dryer. I smell greasy, crispy, delicious bacon. I smell all different types of soaps, especially cranberry.
I taste scrambled eggs sprinkled with cheese. I love the taste of breaded chicken thighs with a tall glass of cold milk. I taste butter milk pancakes. I taste tacos with chips and guacamole. I taste a lot of candy and chocolate and gummy worms. I taste my mom’s Christmas baking. Her pumpkin cookies are my favourite.
I see my brother playing with his favourite toys. I see lots of my family pictures on the wall. I see my sister reading chapter books in her room. I see my brother playing video games while my sister plays Minecraft. I see my dad watching football. I see my upstairs fridge which is filled with all sorts of pictures and magnets.
