Home
My home, I don’t know where my home is, here on Salt Spring Island or in the Ukraine. I was born in Ukraine. Growing up, I had my own bathroom, bedroom, a trampoline, and I even had a pool. In Ukraine I could run and play in my home because we had lots of space and two floors. I really love my home in Ukraine.
Now, on Salt Spring Island, I don’t have the space to be very active. There are four of us and we have only one bathroom and two bedrooms. Even though the house is small, I have other special things like a basketball hoop outside my house. It’s so fun to play! Every time I come back from school, I smell yummy food. My mom cooks dinner and she also makes me lunch for school. I think she gets so tired because of all the cooking. She says that she is fine, but I don’t think so. On my first day in this new house, we were putting stuff inside like beds and shelves. I was so tired, but now I’m so grateful for this house. I really liked it. I hope we won’t move.
A home isn’t just where you sleep, it is where you feel love and you smell the smells of delicious food. I’m so thankful for Habitat for Humanity because they build homes for people. Everyone deserves a home.
