The Warm Winter

Once upon a time, there was a lion named Leo. He didn't have a home. He dreamed of having a home. There was also a bear named Bella. She did have a home but she wished she could help someone who was unhoused. Leo was walking around the forest looking for a place to live. He bumped into Bella. Bella said “Are you okay?” “Sorry. Are you okay?” Leo said “Oh! I'm fine!” Bella said kindly. “Hi! Nice to meet you! I'm Leo.” “Hi! I'm Bella. What are you doing out here in the cold? It's almost hibernation season!” Bella said. Leo hesitated and started sniffling. “I don't have a home.” Leo said sadly. Then he started to walk away. Bella stopped him and said “Wait! Leo, I can help you! But it's a surprise!” Bella said. Leo went to sit by a tree. Then he heard a bright voice saying “Leo!!” Tiny yellow figures were behind them. Then they got closer. It was Bella with her duck friends! They started building. “Hammer? Oh, hammer? Where is the hammer?!” a duck screamed. “Dobby! The hammer is with Jerry!” Bella said. They could see the house coming together. But Leo was getting cold. “Leo, do you want to stay with me?” Bella said. Leo nodded. Bella said “Okay.” Then Leo started to doze off. “Leo! Wake up!” a voice said. He woke up to a house in front of him. He started to cry. “Thank you, Bella, and Habitat for Wildlife!” Leo had happy tears running down his face. There are people who are just like Leo who deserve a home. Thank you Habitat for Humanity!
