My Home is My Family

If you walk into a house with no one in it, it will feel so empty, but if you walk into a house with a family it will feel so alive and full. My home is not a building with a roof and walls, it’s a place filled with love, care, laughter, belonging and so much more. In my home during the day my Mom is working, my Dad is cooking supper, my dog, Callie is playing outside and me and my sister, Claire are playing downstairs, in the basement full of toys. Me and Claire love to play together, but sometimes we argue, it will happen. During the night, before we go to bed, Claire is watching a show on her TV, Callie is lying down on the couch, my Dad is relaxing on the couch with Callie and my Mom is putting me to bed. When our family is together it feels like a dream, it really is my home. My home travels with me everywhere I go, as long as my family is with me. When my family and I come home from work or school, Callie likes to jump up on us because she loves us and she is so excited to see us! We are her home. Home is not a place, it’s really just a family who loves you. I am so lucky to have a family because not everyone has one. Thank you Habitat for humanity for helping so many people everywhere!
