Home, an Old Friend
Home is something inside of you, like a lonely light flickering in a candle. Home is the feeling that you know you have a place, somewhere waiting for you. As long as you have a home you are understood, appreciated, and loved.
Home can be any place in the world– the beach, the forest, a mountain, even space, but it wouldn't matter because the key to home is having people to share it with– friends, family, neighbours and pets. No matter your situation in life, home is a special place in your heart. When I'm with family, I know that's my place, my reason to belong, my home.
Home is a book with blank pages, and it's your job to fill it with memories, adventures, and much more. The pictures on the walls show some of our best memories, and remind us that some of the best memories in life can't be framed. Home is an exciting adventure that never ends.
Home is love, not a building; no building could ever hold that much love or support because there's always room for more. Home is where you can be silly and dance, listen to music, and just have the best time. Home is anywhere and everywhere.
Home is a beautiful blooming flower with beauty in the stem and love in every petal. Home is where there is NO such thing as mistakes, only beautiful opportunities to grow. Home is your escape from the real world, where mistakes and re-trys are key to success.
When I'm at home, I feel I have a chance to breathe and forget about life and stress. It's the fuel that keeps me going, it's the air that helps me breathe and it's the beat to my heart. At my house I have a mom to cook, make art and watch movies with, I have a dad to play chess with and cheer for the Oilers with, and I have my two dogs (Leo and Jasper) to cuddle and relax with.
These people are important to have in life especially at a home of yours. I have these people to bond with and grow with, I have them to love and forever hold me in their heart, and I have them to fill me with joy, comfort, and never- ending knowledge. Home to me is my mom and I making fresh buttered popcorn, the aroma filling the air, while my dad turns on the tv at max volume; it's me sitting on the couch with my favorite people on earth cheering our favorite team on.
Sure, it's not perfect but, it's perfect for me, these are memories I can come back to when I think of home, sure sometimes we might spill some fruity punch or forget and leave the popcorn on too long, but those are the memories I look forward to making, those happy accidents make home worthwhile. Home is those childhood smells, like popcorn, fresh baked goods, casseroles, and PB and J’s. Home is those childhood memories that you know even the dog won't forget, and my unique little memories make home EXTRA special. Home is laughter louder than any thunder storm, home is tears larger than a river, and home is comfort, way more comfy than any couch.
When I used to think of home, I just thought of a building, a roof over my head, a four building structure, but now I know home is family, friends, memories, and happy little accidents just waiting to happen. Home is hard to describe, but now I know it's the best kind of vibe, the best kind of feeling, the best kind of memory, and the best place to be in the whole wide world. Home doesn't have a price tag, it doesn't matter if you live in an apartment, a small home, or a five-story mansion, a home is home, and those memories you make are worth the whole world times five.
Home is the tick-tock of the clock telling you that you have all the time in the world. Home is like a ray of sunshine that's always shining on you. Home is a fluttering butterfly, its patterns unique and beautiful, its smile always on its face, and its family ALWAYS by its side; that's how I feel when I come home, unique, beautiful, bold, and brave. Home makes me stronger, and makes me always have high hopes for the future. At home you can be anything, and at home I'm a fashionista, I'm a poet, a chef, and a popstar; home is where I have the best ideas and the best imagination.
Home is an old friend, one that's always there for you with memories, love, and some of your best moments. And when you reunite with them it's like a light switch that's been off for so long has finally been turned back on and the rush of so many special memories comes flooding through your brain. Sometimes it might make you want a hug, or a nice bright smile, or even make you want to cry, but no matter where you are, that old friend will always be there for you. And at the end of the day when I'm old, have kids, and have a new home of my own I'll still remember my old friend.
