The Meaning of Home
I love my home. It makes me feel safe, happy, and relaxed. Home is the place where I can be myself. When I walk through the door, I know I belong and that my family cares about me.
I love my dog and cat. My dog's tail wags so fast when she sees me, like she’s been waiting all day. I love to sit next to the fireplace with my cat and hold her when it is cold. It feels calm and cozy.
Outside, we take care of chickens and collect fresh eggs every day. It feels nice to eat something we raised ourselves. In the summer we splash in the pool and cool off when the sun is hot. In our garden we grow strawberries, vegetables, and flowers. I like picking flowers and grabbing a snack straight from the garden. On our trampoline, I do front flips and chase my brother. We also shoot hoops and throw a baseball until it starts to get dark.
I love my mom and dad. My dad makes the best spaghetti with just the right amount of sauce. My mom makes the best curry and I love when there are leftovers the next day. When we eat dinner together, our house feels warm and fun. We talk about our day, laugh a lot, and sometimes tease each other. My mom tucks me in and gives me the best hugs. My dad helps me when I’m stuck and makes me laugh.
Home means love, safety, fun, and belonging. I am thankful I have a place like this and I hope everyone can feel safe in their home. That is why my home means everything to me.
Thank you, Habitat for Humanity , for building homes❤️.
