The Cabin of Birthdays
The ocean waves tickle my ankles, I am sitting on the dock,
the smell of salt water feels like home. I hear singing from the cabin and my friends calling my name, “Georgia come on hurry up its your birthday!” they tell me So I get up, the wood from the dock scratching my legs as I walk away from the ocean and toward the cabin
I am walking up to the soil path, through the pine and fur trees that are reaching up to the sky trying to grow as high as they can. Then I get to the stairs that follow to the cabin, they creak as I walk. Just then, I see my family and best friends singing happy birthday to me. It feels amazing.
My great aunt and uncle on both sides of the family, my grandparents, parents and brother, and my best friends, all singing, “Happy birthday dear georgia happy birthday to you”
I blow out my birthday candles. I am now 10 finally double deg. They all cheer and clap. The cake looks very beautiful, pink, green, and blue icing swirled around the edges of the cake into dozens of flowers. Then my mom comes out with a knife and paper plates with forks and starts to serve out the vanilla fudge ice cream cake to whoever wants some. She gives the first slice to me, “thank you!” I say in excitement.
“You’re welcome honey, happy birthday,” mom says I walk to the folding table where my friends are. The ice cream melts in my mouth as I take the first bite, “this is soooo good,” I say to my friends, who iv known for my whole life
“I know,” they say in awe.
“Do you guys want to go into the forest after?” I ask
“Yeah, of course,” they reply. We get up and run to the back of the cabin, I take a deep breath in, the smell of pine and fresh soil refreshes my body. “Come on Georgia,” they yell to me.
“Coming,” I yell back to them.
I run into the woods following my friends with my ice cream cake in my hand
I love my cabin because all my family and friends comes together to celebrate.
