Meaning of Home
The meaning of home to me isn’t a place, but people I love. My family is very special to me. They make me feel loved, happy and like I can just be myself. I have my mom and dad, two sisters (Noelle and Vera). Vera, my youngest sister, likes to play dinosaurs and Peppa Pig and she likes to watch Minions. Vera and I play a lot together, chasing each other around. Noelle is super nice and really good at art, softball and baking chocolate chip cookies or brownies. She is a great example to me.
My mom makes delicious food. My favorite foods that she makes are pasta, perogies, and gnocchi. When we have a big family dinner, we always have hamburgers with a special drink, and we light a candle and visit with each other. When school is over and my mom and dad pick me up, I always tell them how hungry I am. My mom will say, “Well, that is good because I made something delicious for a snack.” When I walk through the front door after school, the fire is lit and it always smells so good. It is so warm and cozy.
At home I like to practice pitching for baseball with my dad. I try to get fifteen good pitches and when I get a perfect pitch my dad says, “Nice! or, “That was the best pitch yet!” At night, before I go to bed, my mom and I read Harry Potter in her comfy bed.
I'm so glad that Habitat for Humanity has helped to build people houses that can then become homes. Home means to me love and happiness.
Home is not a place, it is wherever my family is because they make me feel the safest, happiest and most loved.
