When I think of home...
I smell sweet strawberry Cows sorbet wishing I had saved it,
Summer air as Liv and I watch butterflies flutter around at Nana’s house in PEI,
Nana’s perfect blossoming garden,
Dandelions I still believe are flowers and pick for Mom,
Salty breezes of PEI that will always be with me
I hear the soft swish as the ball goes in the net,
The huge Sand Spit roller coaster winding up and down,
Bubble gum popping as Liv, Logan and I see who can blow the biggest bubble,
The loud ball hitting the ground as Dad tells me to hustle,
The stampede as Nana calls me and my cousins up for Sunday dinner
I taste not too warm not too cold but just right apple pie,
The snowflakes dropping on my tongue while building a snow fort,
Perfect Kraft dinner with extra cheese sprinkled on top,
The gooiest s’mores over a bonfire on New River Beach with my best friends,
Delicious peanut butter balls along with dozens of deserts shared with my family
I feel the tender red sand between my toes,
My heavy comforter pulling me in like a whirlpool,
Sandy seashells and sea glass beach combing with Nana,
The hard pavement as I play street ball with my neighbours trying to dunk
The rough leather basketball as I shoot a three
I see the gentle gleam of Pine Grove Christmas trees,
The sun setting as I play a backyard game of soccer,
The big blue water tower at the top of my street while trying to climb the fence,
Nana’s family books that she makes and mean so much to me,
My pile of Bernstein Bears books as I ask my dad for just one more
When I think of home, I smell, hear, taste, feel, and see love
