Home

Home is a word A place A feeling A belonging Where thy story begins Where it intertwines Where it coils, spirals, winds, tangles Thine ending And thy Heart The canvas of life Thy life Fire and water and light Colors and swirls and black and white Thou holdest the brush A mirror As thou gaze upon thy reflection Is it misty or clear? Doth knowest thyself Doth thine eye pierce to thy soul? Dim lights Bright nights A container Of laughs and happy memories Calm and peace A diary Painted with words Silent whispers Secrets and comforts shared in the light of dawn A key To thy bold To thyself Confidence Identity Home Who art thou? Community Connection Home is thy root And thy fruit Home Where you want to be Where thy heart resides The rose bush is covered in blossoms Intricate layers of velvet Delicate Home But roses have thorns And keys have locks The wind whispers The sea beckons Far Away From Home Home is war Brambles of shouts and snarls Messes of blood and clashes Dost thou fight Or flee Flee the darkness To light Run away from the cold Art thou so scared? Art thou willing To fight For what’s thine? In the midst When death is life and life is death Look where you leap Look where you step Take heed of thy footing The wind whispers The sea beckons The rose unfurls its bloom A rose has thorns That’s what makes it beautiful Fight Or flee? Make a choice In the midst I choose Home.
