What home means to me
Home means different things for different people. For me, home is a feeling not just a place. My home makes me feel comfortable and safe. I love watching movies with one of my parents, with the soft blankets and pillows when its freezing outside. It makes me feel safe. The comfy couch and crunchy popcorn, or chocolate-cherry ice cream. It all makes me happy and relaxed. Going on walks outside also reminds me of home. My parents and I always go on long walks around the neighborhood. In in my mom and I’s neighborhood, all the houses were built a while ago. We look at all the unique styles and talk about how we would fix some of them with paint, shingling, or renovations. The walks leave me feeling calm and excited. I like going around my neighborhood and seeing other people's homes. In my dad and I’s neighborhood, we try different streets and explore. I play catch with both of my parents too. Being outside feels fresh and clean. Inside, there is my art projects and drawings. The moment my pencil hits the paper it’s flowing with ideas. I feel the sense of pride seeing my work on the fridge door. Sometimes, it is the quiet nights that are the best. Sitting down and reading or crocheting in the living room. Or baking cookies in the kitchen. Sometimes I miss my old home. I remember how it was. It can be hard. But home is not just a place. It is about who you make memories with.
