The Meaning of Home

There’s something about home that everyone loves, maybe the feeling that we’re always safe, or the constant love from friends and family. You know what I’m talking about. “In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.” Psalm 4:8. Many mix up the words house and home, but they are very different. A house is the physical structure with walls, furniture, tools etc. Houses are also different, they could be a $2 5000 000 mansion, or a small cozy wood cabin, maybe a small condo for a small family. Yet a home has love, safety, kindness, memories, fun, joy, and laughter. “For every house is built by someone, but God is the builder of everything.” Hebrews 3:4. For me, every day at school I’m spending half my day staring at the clock, counting down the minutes until school ends. Not because I hate school, because I WANT TO GO HOME! So think about the homeless, it must be horrible for them. In Winnipeg there are lots of homeless people, and it is super cold in the winter. Imagine having to sleep in a freezing cold bus shelter, if you were lucky enough to find one! Sometimes we as humans are too selfish to think about those people, but Habitat for Humanity sure isn’t! “Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and He will reward them for what they have done” Proverbs 19:17. “Home isn’t where you're from, it’s where you find light when all grows dark.” Pierce Brown. Thank you Habitat for Humanity! Together you are changing lives.
