The Meaning of Home

What is home? A Home isn't a house, It's a safe place where you can express yourself and feel confident. To me, a home is a safe environment where hugs are given and stories about our day are told. My family grows into a house like seeds in dirt… When we grow into a house, it turns into a home with memories scattered along the walls and laughter filling the air. When I think of a house, it's just a simple building, but it could be a home to someone else. In my home, there are six people (including my two dogs) who each have their own room, but both of my parents share a room. If you feel unsafe in your home, it's not a home! Homes are places where you're supposed to be safe, relaxed, and have the necessary things to survive! Like food, water, and communication, safety, and sometimes skills! Many people do not have a home due to multiple factors that cause them to have to move to a less expensive house or even become homeless. A few of these reasons are job loss, illness, and structural issues. What makes a house into a home? Usually a house is new to you, though when you have been there and grown into the house, made friends, had at least a birthday or two there, that's when you can consider it a home! A home is more of a safe place than a house. Think of it as a branch and your parents and you as birds! Your parents build a nest, which takes a while. I think that a nest is the same as taking your time and your house turning into a home.
