When I Grow Up . . .
I grow up with home, like it grows up with me. We do a lot together, side by side. My house keeps me on my feet holding the floors and ceilings up. And even if I spill some water on the floor or drop my belongings I try to carry, it never yells at me. But my house holds love beside me and I accept it into my heart. When I grow up, I’ll have a house of my own, and yet, we’ll never be far apart.
When I grow up I’ll notice a home is more than a place to stay; It’s a place to live and survive through the roughest winters, and the harsh spring storms; The hottest summer days and the autumns that blow wind this way and that. When I grow up I’ll notice that a home is more than a hotel–it’s a place to stay when I’m sick or tired or so much more. I’m thankful I even have a home; I’ll understand that more when I’m older. But though I have a home, some people do not and that’s where you come in; Habitat for Humanity gives people a home where they stay, and be in a safe place.
