What My Home Means to Me

What home means to me is feeling safe and loved and coming home from school to my brother playing with his noisy toys and running around, my Mom cooking her own recipe for dinner and asking me how my day was, my sister beside me asking if I want to draw with her and my dad always wanting to have a big conversation about boring Dad stuff. I still love and cherish my home no matter how loud or overwhelming it gets. I love spending time with my family like going on enormous, long walks and having hilarious conversations and having moments I will never forget. Home has so many different meanings and they're way more than you think. My home is easy to recognize with the big, tall trees, the moss on the side of rocks, the birds chirping in the morning waking me up and the huge blackberry bush in front of my house. This will always be the real home inside of my heart. But the sightings don't matter; it's the people you see every day in it. That's why I’m glad schools all across Canada are doing Habitat for Humanity this so kids can express in their own way, because home isn’t just about food on your plate or roof over your head. It's about the people you share it with and laugh and share love with. And that's the most special thing about it. By Presley
