What Home Means To Me

Every morning the smell of breakfast fills the kitchen before I get out of bed. I can hear quiet footsteps moving around me and the soft noises of the plates. There is something comforting about those noises. They make me feel safe, like no matter what happens during the day, I have a place to return too. In the evenings the living room becomes our favorite place. We sit together sometimes talking about our day, sometimes just watching TV in comfortable silence. Even when we disagree or argue, it never lasts long, we always find a way back to each other. That's what makes it home. It's not perfect, but it's full of love! I didn't always understand how important home was. Sometimes I'd wish for something bigger or more exciting. But as I grow older I realize home isn't about size or style. It's about the feeling you get when you walk through your door. Home is where I can be myself without pretending. It's when my laughter is loud and my worries can be heard, and my heart feels at peace. No matter where life takes me in the future I know I will always carry my home inside me. When I'm sad I will go to my dogs to cheer me up or when I feel lonely I will snuggle my dogs! My dogs are my comfort and happiness, always loving and loyal, turning ordinary days into warm memories with their playful hearts and gentle presence. My dogs fill my life with joy! Home is the quiet glow in the window when the world feels loud, the scent of something warm cooking on the stove and the gentle certainly that no matter how far you wander someone is glad your back. I love my home. By: Abby
