What home means to me
To me, home isn’t just a place where you live. It’s a place where you can be yourself, where you can break down in tears or explode with excitement, where you can be who you truly are, with no judgement. But it’s not just the comforts of a house that make you feel at home, it’s family. At home, I see my mom cooking up a storm, and I see my dad working in his office. Without them, my home would be a house, with me and some furniture, because I’ve had all these memories with them. Without memories, like cooking with my family, playing with friends, and writing under lamplight, home wouldn't be home. Home is a place where you feel loved, cared for, and warm inside. To me, home isn’t just walls. It’s the only place where I feel completely safe. Sometimes I just feel like I want to escape people and reality entirely, and home is the only place where I can. At home, you don’t have to conceal who you really are. Home is a place with no negative boundaries, and it’s where I can just be me. A while ago, I was just running around, exploring all of the new, unfamiliar corners of my new house; regretting leaving my old, familiar house behind, thinking of the place I grew up in, thinking of all the moments that would never happen again with me as a young child. Now, this house is a home, with new memories of its own. My home.
Thank you Habitat For Humanity, for helping people in need find the true definition of home, slowly working towards a better future for everyone.
Everyone should have a place to be themselves. Everyone should have a home.
