Home is Not Just a House

There are simply not enough words to describe and capture the amazing feeling that takes hold of your body and mind after you come home after a long day. Whether it is a house, apartment, or anywhere else, it doesn’t matter, because home is a feeling and people, not a building. Home is my family, and their love for me; my mom and dad’s everlasting comfort and understanding, and my sister’s slightly annoying but loving, games. Home doesn’t have to be just people, though. It can be a pet, like a cat, dog, or even maybe a lizard. I have a cat; he is an amazing, cuddly partner that makes me feel loved. No matter where you are, your family will always be there for you. I go to my Nan and Papa’s almost every weekend with my cousins, and it is basically like a second house. In the summer, we always have a yummy barbecue. In the winter, there’s this big hill in the back, so we make a sled run and shoot down it on the fastest sleds. Sometimes, my cousins bring their dog, and he is just the cutest little thing; he’s a weiner/corgi mix! Home is the delicious smell of my mom’s lasagna coming from the kitchen; it is my favorite dish. It’s slurping up my dad’s spaghetti and crunching garlic bread with it, playing music through the speaker and making a story out of it. It’s my sister’s play food, extravagant in its own way. It’s where we make the most amazing memories; a completely ordinary day turned into something worth remembering. It’s where I can feel all the feelings, and crawl under the blankets after a hard day. So, home is not a building; it’s everything inside.
