Home Is Different Than a House
To me, home is a place where I can always share my thoughts and feelings with people who understand me. Sometimes I have bad days but I know there are people who care and understand. If there’s a thought that weighs heavily on me, I can tell my parents, or anyone in my family. I always feel safe to be myself. In some places, I feel like I have to hold back on who I am. That never happens in my home. Another thing is that in a house you could be protected by wood and bricks. But in a home, you’re protected by feelings and good energy. Bad feelings and energies have a way of evaporating in my home.
A home is also not built like a house. A house is built of wood, bricks, and other materials. A home is made of happy thoughts, feelings and memories. There are also lots of sad things in a home but that’s okay! Home isn’t perfect, home can be messy and sad at times. I experience lots of different emotions in my home. So does everyone.
Another thing about home is objects. Not just any objects, but objects I’ve seen or had my whole life. Objects that tie into memories. Some objects that could be replaced may never hold the same value. It wouldn’t have the same memories or feelings. If I touched it, it would feel too new or not have a mark where it was supposed to have a mark. Home needs to be a place of coziness and warmth and it can’t be without memories. Memories are a major part of home for me.
