Meaning of Home- Why is Habitat for Humanity Important?

Habitat for Humanity is a worldwide non-profitable organization that started in 1976. Habitat for Humanity helps people that don't have houses. In 2024 Habitat for Humanity helped more than 3 million people build or improve their homes. Habitat for humanity builds houses for people that can't afford them. People that are getting houses built from Habitat for Humanity often see higher income and more stability after getting a Habitat home. Sometimes families volunteer five hundred hours to build their homes. In total 91 families in Grey Bruce have benefited from habitat home ownership. This helps children succeed by providing family stability. Habitat for humanity tries to make people have a safe place to live. Habitat for Humanity helps low-income people and supports indigenous communities and reconciliation. Habitat for Humanity also has a thrift store with old furniture, tools, lighting and décor for houses. Habitat for Humanity operates three retail stores in Owen sound handover and port Elgin.
