What Home Is
Home is a place where you should feel safe, loved, not judged and not be afraid to be YOU! Home is where the heart is; if the house is a body then home is the heart. A house is the physical building which someone lives in. It’s a structure, a shelter and an outer shell. Not everyone lives in a house anyway. Some people live in apartments, condos, town houses and more. Home is a state of mind, not a material place. Home is family, friends, care, safety, comfort, and most important of all, love. Now, what is home to me?
Home is the people and feelings. It’s a place where my favourite memories are made. It’s where the most important people in my life are. My friends, family and everyone in between. Aside from my own house, there are many places I call home. My grandparents’ house and my school just to name a couple. Many things make me feel that familiar homey feeling. For example, like how after a long winter break I was ready to see my friends at school, and when I heard the familiar sound of the lockers closing, the music playing on the P.A., the bell ringing, and my teacher yelling across the hallway to get to class, I thought “This is home”. Or how the feel of pages in a book always makes me feel content and at home. Home is the place that I can go when I’ve had a long day to relax, unwind and spend time with my family.
