Meaning of Home
To me, home means a place where you wake up being yourself, feeling loved, and where you feel safe, comfortable, and accepted for who you truly are. Home isn’t just a building or a structure, it’s anything or anywhere you want it to be, and it can look different for every single person. In the dictionary, home means “a place where a person or family lives,” but that isn’t all true, because home is so much more than just a definition in a book. Home is meant to be your happy place, a place that brings you peace, and you get to make the decision where your happy place is and what it means to you. You can possibly live somewhere you hate, somewhere that doesn’t make you happy or feel safe, but just because you live there doesn’t mean it’s your home. I would say that’s a house. A home and a house are totally different, even if people sometimes think they are the same thing. Everyone has a different idea of home, and no one’s idea is wrong. For me, home is my dance studio. I feel super safe at the studio, and I have lots of friends that are kind, funny, and supportive, which makes it even more special to me. I could just be myself there without worrying about being judged. I could be funny, and even weird, and still feel accepted. I always leave with a smile on my face and a good feeling in my heart. If you want, home can literally be your favourite food, something that brings you comfort and happiness. A home is supposed to have amazing, happy, and funny memories that make you feel warm and loved when you think about them.
