Home is My Stronghold

Home is my stronghold. It is where I can truly be myself. It’s where I feel loved, safe, comfortable and where I have a sense of belonging. When I am not at home and when I am in a hotel, sometimes at midnight, I feel like a bowl of cereal and I can’t find a spoon. Well, then there’s a whole lot of BANGS and CRASHES echoing through the thin walls of the hotel room. Next thing I know, my family is up and frowning at me. My point is, it is not familiar, so it doesn’t feel like home. I am so cramped, I can hear every little sound from the next room over, and I can’t find anything. For example, I can’t even find my own shoes or the washroom! My room is probably where I spend most of my time in. It is also where I read books. Almost all the time I feel like the characters in the book are my friends because I get to know them. It may sound weird, but it’s true! When I read there is usually a lot of THUDS because there is a train next to where I live. When it passes by, it feels and sounds like an earthquake. Still, my room makes me feel special and cared for, even though there are things that are annoying. Home is my stronghold. It is because it will always be there no matter where I go. Home is not just an address. Home can be anywhere and it can change over time. It is where you can always return to and it’s a place meant just and only for you.
