The Meaning of Home
The meaning of home to me is the feeling of warm hugs, the feeling of laughter, and the privilege of having a person to call home. The privilege of seeing your friends and family everyday. To me, my family is my home. They are my warmth, they are my joy, and they are my comfort. I feel privileged to be able to have these people on my side and by my side.
They are the house that shelters me, and a house full of love. Full of new things, and memories, but to me it doesn't matter if I move houses, at least I still have my home, my home that is full of memories.
Memories including the smell of my mom cooking Kabab Haala and mashi, my baba and I playing soccer, my sister and I playing volleyball, and my mom and I baking. Stories being told from all these memories, these moments. Every birthday and every present that was shared. It may seem like small things, but it's the small moments we'll always cherish in our heart when we grow up, the things we’ll always remember. We’ll always remember the heartfelt stories formed by tears, laughter, and the struggles.
The pictures on the walls that reflect our childhood. The things we’ll miss once we forget them, and the things we won't be able to do anymore once we grow old, so we'll pass it down to the next generation, and onto the next generation. So remember, cherish, and appreciate everything while we still can, because you never know, one day you'll wish you did. Finally thank you Habitat for Humanity, you really have defined the meaning of home for the less fortunate people you've helped, and you make the world a better place.
