Home is Not Just a Building

Mehrsam Zamani Rad Grade 4 Age 9 R.C.Garnett Demonstration School Home Is Not Just a Building Home is a place where you can wake up to the sound of pancakes being flipped for breakfast, just like every Thursday morning. Home is a place where you can look down at the beautiful view of the mountains and trees in the distance as the sun slowly sets on the horizon. Just before bedtime, I lie down on my squishy couch as I feel myself sinking as I read, which brings me back to the times when I used to read books to my mom every night back when I was 5 in Iran. I really miss those times. On sunny days in the summer, I wake up wondering how many scoops of ice cream I'll be able to eat. Or if I will even taste all the “vibe bringing” flavours all at once. Every morning when I wake up, I go to my parents' room to say good morning because I just can't start the day without getting hit by their smell. It's like a key from the dark side to the bright side. When I am at home, I feel comfortable and not alone, thanks to my family. But I do know that everybody needs a place to comfortably call their home because home is not just a building, it's where you can find happiness and be yourself. So, thank you, Habitat for Humanity.
