Home

My home is in the mind and the heart It’s where I can go to get a head start It’s a place where I can go to make a plan And I can use it to safely land Home is my grandmother's delicious deserts Home will be welcome to all my quirks Home is the fridge covered by my sister's art And the late nights spent launching darts Home is the spark that ignites the flame When I’m at home I don’t have to be the same Home is napping on a bean bag And waking up to play hours of tag When I’m at home time stops As we play hours of chalk hopscotch Home is jumping through a sprinkler in spring And a basement filled with forgotten things But home will change through time But I can still call it mine Home is cannonballing into leaf piles My home is a place that makes me smile Home is a cold ice cream in summer My home is often open to others Home is pushing my sister on the swing My home will be open to anything My home is like a bus stop for hobbies On Christmas eve it's a hotel lobby My home is not something it's everything So I can carve it into anything
