Where I'm From

I am from Dora, the Explorer and Frozen From painful pigtails to finally learned how to write my name I am from the large giant castle And the scent of yummy curry I am from an orchid Whose petals reach for the sun I am from an Elsa doll and unicorn tattoos From the Sandhar family and the Bir family I am from thick brown hair and long eyelashes And from “How was your day?” at school pickups From “What do you want to eat”? Afterschool at home I am from “When we go to the temple you must cover your head.” I am from my Nani and my Nana From Butter chicken to soft buttery Nann From my Nanas 80th birthday And from going to my grandparents' house to have ice cream Taking public transit I am from those moments where I would watch Dora and Frozen, from painful pigtails, to finally learned how to write my name
