What Home Means to Me

What Home Means to Me My home is like a heart. It’s a constant rhythm of love, dialogue, and support. Love: You will see hugging all the time. Dialogue: You will see important conversations daily. Support: You will see empathy in good times and in bad. My home is not just a building. To me, it’s much more than that. It is a place where at the end of the day I get to spend time with my family and not have to worry about anything. It is a place where I can feel every emotion. It’s a place where I’ll always be ok. My home is like a warm blanket. It is soft, familiar, and full of memories that make me feel instantly at ease. My house is a cozy place where I can relax and enjoy my time. It is a place where I can be myself. My home makes memories. When my family hosts parties or gatherings. They are memories. I am not saying I remember all the parties, but I remember the important ones like Christmas, birthdays, Easter, Halloween, and Thanksgiving. I will always remember them. My home is perfect. It is not perfect because of the things inside. It is perfect because of the people that are in it; my dad, my mom, and my brother. Don’t get me wrong, I love the things inside my house but that is not what makes it special. I think everyone deserves a home. I think everyone should have one place to call home. It doesn’t have to be big. It just has to yours. Thank you, Habitat for Humanity, for helping me define what home means to me; helping me to think about those who don’t have a home.
