My Happy Place

My home is my happy place. When I enter the room I see my family's smiley face! Most days I'm feeling happy but, some days I feel down. Even when I am, my friends and family comfort me so I don't need to frown. Although Canada is our home, My mom came from Turkiye and my dad came from Iran, We celebrate all the celebrations and eat rice with saffron! Home is my mom’s thanksgiving turkey warm and bright, Other times it's soup from loved ones after my dads chemo nights. Where we freely live our traditions until the end, It's where we set the Hafsin table meals shared with family and friends! Sometimes we laugh together, sometimes we sit and cry. Home means joining my best friend at Diwali lights. Sometimes home means reading Rumi’s poetry with grace, And joining Terry Fox runs to support the race. Home means cheering up my friends' goals at hockey games. Other days we share our tears, though life may not feel the same. If you ever need to talk, find your place, find your rest, A loving family is truly the best. I am thankful for home where I am loved and I am free, In the True North Strong and wonderful community.
